Enjoying St. Paddy's Day in the Clearwater Beach Area

Saint Patrick’s Day is an annual tradition that is celebrated in a number of creative and enjoyable ways across Tampa Bay. Residents of Clearwater Beach begin by asking themselves if they’re going to a pub. Those people who want more sober, family-oriented fun will find it at one of many parades, or can check out the green fountains around Clearwater Beach. Residents of Clearwater beach will choose from parties being held at dozens of bars and restaurants in the area, as well as pub crawls in downtown Clearwater and St. Petersburg.

Irish Pubs in the Clearwater Beach Area

One excellent way to enjoy St. Paddy's Day is to head to one of several Irish pubs that are situated in and around the Clearwater Beach area. Visitors to Clearwater Beach are likely to choose O’Keefe’s Tavern, an authentic Irish pub known for its award winning Irish puffs. An Irish Puff is a puff pastry filled with corned beef, cream cheese and sauerkraut, and locals love them. This is a well-kept secret among locals, so don’t tell anyone. The biggest St Patrick’s Day party in the area, about which you will read below, is hosted by Flanagan’s Irish Pub, which is a fine patron of Irish and Scottish musicians. At Flanagan’s, pub-goers will often encounter a troupe of bagpipers from the local high school, piping and drumming for a rowdy and grateful crowd.


St. Patrick’s Day Festivities in the Clearwater Beach Area

On a day when everyone gets to be Irish, visitors may choose to spend the entire day simply walking around in their greenest gear, while listening to Irish music, eating delicious food and drinking a proper pint of Guinness Stout. Each year, there are several street parties that are held on Saint Patrick’s Day across the larger St. Petersburg-Clearwater area. The most famous of which is in Dunedin. The Downtown Dunedin St. Patrick’s Week Festival is hosted by Flanagan’s Irish Pub, and takes over a large part of downtown Dunedin for several fabulous days of great Irish and Celtic music, food, other entertainment and family fun.
